The
Deployment-Gate Checklist: Turning Sign-off Into a Control
Category: Deployment Governance / Reusable Client
Template
A one-page control, not a suggestion list. Every checkbox below
should be treated as a gate: a deployment isn’t “done” until its
applicable rows are checked, and a checkbox that can’t be checked is
itself the finding to raise - before shipping, not after.
This checklist grew out of a real, recurring pattern across more than
a dozen separately operated system instances: the same handful of
process gaps kept causing production incidents, not because anyone
lacked the skill to fix them, but because there was no standing control
forcing the check to happen every single time. Below is the generalized,
platform-agnostic version.
1. Deployment Process
2. Data / Environment Readiness
3. Build / Packaging
4. Security
5. Documentation & Naming
6. Standing Workstreams
How to use this checklist: Copy it into your own
deployment runbook and treat every applicable row as a required gate,
not a best-effort suggestion. A row that can’t honestly be checked off
is not a reason to skip it - it’s the single most valuable finding in
the whole deployment, because it tells you exactly where the next
incident is going to come from.
